The Independent Sentencing Review's focus on modernising justice is welcome. Community sentences and deferred prosecution can deliver better outcomes than short custodial sentences — but only when they are properly administered and monitored.
That requires joined-up case management: courts, probation and intervention providers working from the same record, with completion tracked and breaches visible in real time.
